The first report of the fire at the cotton go-down was received at 8:42pm Monday night, the chief fire officer said.
According to fire brigade officials, 12 vehicles were at the scene and trying to douse the blaze.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Speaking to media, the fire chief said the go-down had cotton bales stored inside which made it easier for the flames to spread and more challenging for the firefighters to bring it under control.
Further, the fire chief said the cotton supplies inside the warehouse were more than its capacity. "It will take some time to control and douse this fire," he said.
