Unprovoked firing by Indian forces at the Line of Control
Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Tuesday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner and protested against unprovoked firing by Indian forces at the Line of Control (LoC).

According to Foreign Office Spokesman, Director General South Asia and SAARC summoned the Acting Indian deputy high commissioner and handed over him a protest note from Pakistan over firing at the LoC.

In unprovoked firing of Indian forces at Neelum Valley on the LoC yesterday a woman was martyred and nine civilians were injured.

The deceased woman, identified as Asiya Bibi, was hit in the head by a shrapnel from a mortar shell outside her house and she died on the spot, officials said.

A truce agreement, signed by the two sides in November 2003 saw numerous violations but since October in 2016 when a tourist resthouse located a few kilometres near Athmuqam was shelled by Indian troops followed by shelling on a passenger coach on November 23 that had left more than 10 people dead.

Indian troops in yet another incident of ceasefire violation in Neelum Valley on July 16, 2017, shelled at a Pakistan Army vehicle, leaving four soldiers martyred.
